Our Story
My background is in apparel, where I spent years understanding how well made garments should come together, feel, and endure in everyday life. Becoming a mother brought that knowledge into a completely new context.
When my son was born during a New Zealand summer, I prepared what felt instinctive at the time soft cotton layers, assuming they would be sufficient. Yet during our first day at the birth centre, he remained unsettled. A nurse gently checked his temperature and explained that newborns can still feel cold, even in summer. That moment stayed with me. When we returned home, I introduced Merino clothing and socks, and the change was immediate not as a technical revelation, but as a feeling of calm and ease settling into our days.
With my background in design and construction, I began to notice that many Merino socks available were treated purely as functional items, often lacking refinement in fit, durability, and overall visual balance. I wanted everyday socks that felt gentle on the skin, held their shape, washed well, and continued to look considered over time.
That intention became the foundation of Jodo Nest, named after my son’s nickname, a brand created from lived experience and design judgement, offering quietly refined Merino essentials made to be lived in.
